What is your favorite memory/(memories) from FYHS/HTC/Kayitz:

My favorite part was centered around the dorms. It was an incredible experience. The dormers were like my brothers. There was always something fun to do. I am still in touch with Rabbi Cardash who calls me twice a year, and every time I get that call, it makes my day. It is so nice that he cares so much about me and I really appreciate it. 

I am currently a Biochemist and started to become interested in that field when I took AP Bio my Junior year. When I finished my PhD in Biology, I actually invited my teacher from that year, Pablo Michalewicz, to my thesis defense. He didn't come, but I recently bumped into his daughter in shul. Her dad is due to come for Shabbos soon and I can't wait to thank him!

Just as meaningful were the relationships I developed with my Rebbeim. They played a major role in helping me grow as a Ben Torah. Even during my service in the Israeli army, I stayed in touch with Rabbi Haskell and Rabbi Zimmerman. They were always there to encourage me and offer guidance, and to this day I know I can turn to them for advice.

Please share a lesson/takeaway from your time at FYHS/HTC/Kayitz:

I think the way I was trained to think by spending 3 hours a day in Gemara shiur helped me in my career today. I learned how to think analytically, and it shaped me into who I am today. That was incredibly helpful.

Advice for current students:

Enjoy it while it lasts. The experience you have there will really prepare you for life.
