Sarah Hartman Women's College of Touro at HTC is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Kochava Yitzhak as chair of its Department of Judaic Studies. With over 25 years of experience in the field of Jewish education for women, including more than two decades at Ida Crown Jewish Academy, Mrs. Yitzhak brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role.
Mrs. Yitzhak, who holds a master's degree in Judaic Studies from Yeshiva University, is also a noted lecturer in the community and has previously taught courses in Tanach at SHWCT. As part of her vision for SHWCT, she plans to expand programming to serve women of the community, which will enhance the college's role as a resource for both students and the broader Chicagoland Jewish community.
"We're thrilled to have such an outstanding educator to lead our Department of Jewish Studies," said Dr. Chani Tessler, Dean of SHWCT. "Mrs. Yitzhak is renowned across our entire community as a master educator, and we are thrilled for our students to continue their learning directly with her, and to benefit from her experience and wisdom."
"Our goal was to hire a top-notch educator who our students can not only learn from, but who they can relate to," added Rabbi Shmuel Schuman, CEO of HTC. "Mrs. Yitzhak is an educational force. She will challenge our students in a meaningful way while building deep personal relationships. We look forward to our students' growth, and to the growth of our Judaic Studies program under her leadership."
"It is an honor and a privilege to teach and learn Torah with the young women of Sarah Hartman Women's College," said Mrs. Yitzhak. "I look forward to serving the community in creating a learning environment which nourishes the mind as well as the soul."
Mrs. Yitzhak began her role with HTC on July 1 and can be reached at kyitzhak@touro.edu.
