SHWCT Participates in Touro's Historical Rome Trip

SHWCT student, Yael Cohen, participated in the HISTORICAL ROME TRIP, this past June, offered in conjunction with Touro University. Each year, an exciting trip is offered to our students, and they earn college credits during this 10 day adventure. This trip partnered with Collegio Rabbinico (The Rabbinical College) in Rome for an insider look at the Jewish Archives in Rome at the Great Synogogue. "The trip was incredible! There was touring of the Jewish ghetto, key historical sites from the Roman period to present day, and we got to experience, firsthand, the strength of the Roman Jewish community." Among the presentations was a riveting talk by Dr. Monique Sasson, vice president of the Union of Jewish Communities of Italy, on "Antisemitism in Italy: Past and Present". There was a breathtaking presentation by the Chief Rabbi of Rome, Rabbi DiSegni, and Dr. Alan Kadish , President of Touro University, gave a lecture on Antisemitism on the Campuses Today and what Touro is doing to help combat this horrific trend. The trip was for women only. "It was life changing," says Yael. "I even invited several of the girls on this trip to my upcoming wedding iyH."
