Alumni and Friends Gather for Special Mishmar in Memory of Zali Arnold z"l on His First Yahrzeit

On Thursday evening, July 9 (25 Tammuz), alumni and friends gathered at the Yeshiva for a special Mishmar learning seder commemorating the first yahrzeit of beloved FYHS Class of 2020 alumnus, Zali Arnold z"l.

The evening's limud was introduced by HTC CEO Rabbi Shmuel Schuman, after which participants enjoyed Leil Shishi fleishigs and learned the Chafetz Chaim's Tzipisa L'Yeshua (ציפית לישועה), a work focusing on the anticipation of the Geulah and the hope for redemption. Learning together in Zali's memory served as a meaningful zechus on his yahrzeit and a fitting tribute to the life and values he embodied. A special thank you to  Zali's father, Mr. Yaakov Arnold for sponsoring the Leil Shishi fleishigs in his memory.

A highlight of the evening was the dedication of a new study room in HTC's recently opened Student Learning Center. Dedicated by Zali's classmates, family, and friends, the room will serve as a place for Torah learning, academic study, and lasting friendships for generations of students.

Rabbi Schuman addressed those gathered, reflecting on the remarkable person Zali was. He described Zali as exceptionally bright, yet defined not by his accomplishments but by his unwavering concern for others. Zali possessed a rare combination of intelligence, humility, and kindness, treating everyone with equal respect and making each person feel valued. Rabbi Schuman encouraged those in attendance to honor Zali's legacy by living lives of purpose, building strong families, and caring for others with the same warmth and sincerity that characterized Zali's life.

Rabbi Schuman also noted that the room's purpose extends beyond quiet study. While it will undoubtedly be a place for academic growth, it will also be a place where students gather, laugh, build friendships, and create lasting memories—an environment that reflects the warmth, joy, and camaraderie that were such an integral part of Zali's personality and legacy.  תְּהֵא נַשְׁמָתוֹ צְרוּרָה בִּצְרוֹר הַחַיִּים
