HTC’s Blitstein Institute is very excited to share some of our new academic and community initiatives. We’re so proud of the academic and professional success of our many young women enrolled in our BA program, Israel Option, and Dual Enrollment high school programs. In addition, in our adult learning program, nearly 100 women came together for evenings of inspiration during the three weeks. Touro College Illinois, offering graduate programming on the Fargo campus, is seating its first cohort of students for the Physician’s Assistant program. DUAL ENROLLMENT EXPANDS INTO THREE HIGH SCHOOLS
Blitstein Institute has expanded its dual credit program to include Bais Yaakov High School of Chicago, Hanna Sacks Bais Yaakov, and Lubavitch Girls High School. This exciting program allows high school students to jumpstart their college career by obtaining college credits while still in high school. Dual credit classes are taught on a college level, by qualified instructors, using HTC approved syllabi. Blitstein Institute is in discussion to expand this offering to other schools in the near future. Stay tuned!
THE INNOVATIVE EDGE PROGRAM GRADUATES ITS FIRST COHORT
Blitstein Institute in partnership with the Walder Foundation, completed the first EDGE (Employing & Developing Great Educators) program. EDGE, which includes accredited HTC coursework, was designed to train teachers in STEM education to address the shortage of math and science teachers in Jewish community high schools and yeshivas. Qualified students gain practical teaching experience and obtain ISBE state licensure on secondary education STEM. For more information, visit www.edgetraining.org
RALLA KLEPAK PERFORMING ARTS LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE
Now in its third year, Blitstein Institute’s Performing Arts Leadership initiative has enrolled over 80 community children and young adults into this groundbreaking program. Blitstein Institute students, "Ralla Scholars," learn to use the arts as a valuable tool for their coming professions in the fields of education, therapeutic intervention and education. This program provides free programming to girls in the Jewish community who previously have not had the opportunity to take part in classes in the arts. Special thank you to the Ralla Klepak Foundation for Education in the Performing Arts for supporting this unique and crucial community initiative.
BLITSTEIN EXPANDS INTO COMMUNITY LEARNING
Blitstein Institute for Women continues to provide more opportunities for learning and growth to the women of the community. Special thank you to Mrs. Roslyn Kohanchi, Mrs. Rochie Porush, and Mrs. Estee Weingarten who opened up their homes for a three-part series of community shiurim, which featured Rabbi Shmuel Oren, Rabbi Yaakov Robinson and Rabbi Daniel Raccah. The series was a smashing success, drawing approximately 100 community members. We look forward to greeting the Yomim Noraim with an evening of inspiration, featuring Rabbi Tzvi Forster who will speak on “Meeting the King” at the home of Mrs. Penina Hartman on Tuesday evening, September 13, at 8:00 p.m.
