Tell us a little bit about your family:
Married with 3 Triplet Boys.
What is your favorite memory/(memories) from FYHS/HTC/Kayitz:
I had some great rebbeim, including Rabbi Rand and Rabbi Polstein. I also had Rabbi Schwartz who I maintained a long lasting relationship with, he has unfortunately passed away. Mr. Peterson was great and really cared about making sure we would know our American history. Thursday night hockey was always a big deal after mishmar. The Friday softball leagues were very serious. My best friend today is my friend who I met in Freshman year. I have so many friends from my time there, and I am still in touch with many of them. I made some amazing friendships. My relationships with my Rabbeim, weren’t just during the year I got to learn in the summers with Rabbi Rand.
There are guys from my year doing some really great things- like Rabbi Eli Ginsparg and Rabbi Yerachmiel “Rocky” Pickholtz, and Rabbi Chaim Cohen at Shaalvim. Waking up at 6:30 am and seeing 0 degrees temperature wasn't easy but it was such a wonderful place to go to school.
There were only 24 guys in our graduating class, and the class in front of us had only 12. That created a scenario where we were all really close. I have nothing but wonderful memories.
Please share a lesson/takeaway from your time at FYHS/HTC/Kayitz:
Take advantage of the opportunities that are afforded to you throughout the Yeshiva experience. Enjoy the time in the beis midrash, as you get older it is harder to get that time back.
Everyone who ever went to Skokie knows how to say the “Yeshiva”. If you know, you know.
Advice for current students:
Build a relationships with a Rebbi.
Anything else to share?
Our class felt very close to Rabbi Dovid Schwartz and when the time came, everyone came together and supported the publishing of his book. It is so important to build a relationship with rebbeim.
