On Tuesday, June 12th HTC’s Rabbi William Z. and Eda Bess Novick Z"L Bigdei Yisrael shipped over 300 boxes of new and like-new clothing to our partner organization, Yad Leah in Passaic, NJ. The boxes will be transported by boat and distributed to over 20 locations in various cities across Israel. Special thank you to the hundreds of community members who donated and sponsored clothing, and the many volunteers who spent countless hours sorting and boxing up clothing. We are grateful to our coordinators, Pnina Levinson and Zehava Krauss and Fasman Yeshiva High School students, staff and groups from various local schools, who put in so much effort to see this project to fruition.
Special thank you to the Novick and Milstein families who serve as the inspiration Bigdei Yisrael, which is named after their dear parents. For nearly 50 years, Rabbi William and Eda Bess Novick shipped hundreds of suitcases of clothing to Israel to help the needy. The Novicks recognized the deep need in Israel and jumped at the opportunity to help fellow Jews there.
Today, HTC partners with our community to continue meeting that need and perpetuate the great mitzvah that the Novick family started many years ago. May this mitzvah be a zechus for our community and continue for years to come.
